Hi two items to address. 1. The Grade 6's from Div. 1 and 4 are heading to Tupper High School to make planter boxes for QE with Tupper Grade 12 students. We would like to have 1 or 2 parent volunteers to attend. the field trip notice went home today. If any Gr. 6's haven't purchased bus tickets please do soon before Wed. Nov. 16th.
2. There was a notice sent home about job action and report cards. Just so you know I am planning on letting all the students know about their progress in the class. It is more like a reflection on where they think they are and where I see them. I have been collecting data on students since September. I prefer to let the term be closer to an end before I discuss students with parents / guardians.
Thank you for continuing to support your child's education. |

Hello all I hope you get this information. We are having a class on Tuesday about Food Miles. The information I was given came to me late so here I am posting this out on a Friday hoping everyone gets this. This is what the woman giving the talk sent me.
We are scheduled for the Food Miles Class on Tuesday, Oct 18. Please ask your students to bring in 2-4 food items each: 2 non-perishables and 2 fruits/vegetables ALL with food labels, showing country of origin. The non-perishables can be boxes, cans, packages, spices, pasta (empty or full). IF they are full, then the kids can write their names on the food items with sharpie, so that they can be returned to students at the end of hte lessson. Perishables can be apple, orange, banana, mango, pineapple, snow pea package, etc BUT ALL ITEMS MUST HAVE STICKER or LABEL on them. |

I love the fall because it brings the harvest. I know many of you are busy this weekend but if you the chance, visit the UBC Apple Festival at the UBC Botanical Garden. http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/apple-festival |

I have started a new home reading program for students. They need to read for at least 20 minutes at home each day, record the number of pages as well as write a response to one of the questions each night in their reading journal. A parent needs to sign the journal each night. This is to encourage children to read at home and think about what they are reading, but it is also to encourage dialogue between child and parent. At the end of each term it will be brought in for me to see how many pages each child is reading and how they respond to their books. I encourage students to select books they have not read before and comics are not allowed as home reading but graphic novels are. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to e-mail me. Thank you. |

Hello all - The Grade 6's were sent home forms indicating which immunization shots they need to have. If you would like your child immunized at school, please send the forms back by October 12th. Thank you. |
